FAQ For Lakeland Area Families with an Immediate Need for Cremation Services

  • How long does direct cremation take?

Most Lakeland families receive cremated remains within 7–10 days after authorizations and paperwork are completed. We also offer expedited options—ask us what’s possible based on your situation.

  • What paperwork will I need?

A valid photo ID for the authorizing person, basic vital information for the death certificate, and signatures on a few standard forms. We’ll guide you through each step.

  • Can I purchase an upgraded urn?

Yes. We offer a range of urns and keepsakes. You can also provide your own urn—we’ll ensure proper sizing and secure transfer.

  • Do you work with veterans’ benefits?

We’ll help confirm eligibility and provide documentation for VA burial benefits and national/state veterans cemeteries when applicable.

  • What if my loved one passes at home, a hospital, or a care facility?

Call us. We coordinate directly with hospitals, hospices, care facilities, and local authorities to bring your loved one into our care respectfully and promptly.

  • What if my loved one passes at home and not under hospice care?

First, immediately call local law enforcement. They will document the death, confirm a doctor to sign a death certificate and then you can Spangler Cremation Service.

  • Are there any hidden fees?

No. The $950 covers the full direct cremation service. Only optional add-ons (your choice) and government-set document/mailing fees would be additional—and we’ll review those with you first.
